Mahindra Verito Vibe Overview
Mahindra & Mahindra launched the Verito Vibe compact car way back in 2013, when Indian market was experiencing the high demand and popularity of compact cars. While other automakers successfully fetched profit with several models, Mahindra venture couldn’t become successful, as the company expected. Now the company has stopped the production of the Verito Vibe. In the present fiscal, the Indian auto manufacturer has sold only 32 units of sVerito Vibe, and this has been the worst sales figure for the car since it has been launched. In last fiscal also, Mahindra Verito Vibe sold 749 units.
While in the first fiscal post launch, the car sold 5,213 units in India. In 2014-15 fiscal year too, the car sold 1,361 units. So far, the sales figure for the car has been declining rapidly, which prompted it to stop the production. The Mahindra Verito Vibe was actually based on the Verito sedan. Mahindra launched the Verito sedan in India in 2007, as a rebadged Logan. While the Verito has recently received an electric version in India dubbed as e-Verito, the Verito Vibe couldn’t survive anymore. Test Drive for Mahindra Verito Vibe.
Mahindra Verito Vibe Exterior
Mahindra’s efforts to give Verito Vibe a unique look have succeeded to an extent, though its exterior features are simple and sleek yet they leave a positive impression on onlookers. Despite so many modifications the car still bears a close resemblance to its first predecessor Logan. The front portion of the car is marked by its impressive black carbon fibre grille that proudly bears the ‘Mahindra’ emblem in its centre. This grille is closely guarded by a pair of smoky clear lens halogen headlights that illuminate its way in all kind of weather conditions. The front bumper also looks sporty with an air dam in between and a pair of fog lights on each corner. The pair of intermittent wipers clears the front view by cleaning its laminated front windshield.
The side profile of the car looks noteworthy with a pair of 185/70 R14 14” champagne colored alloy wheels, encarved wheel arches, body toned door handles, pronounced side beams, and body toned side moulding. It seems strength and security were the main priorities while Mahindra engineers were designing this compact sedan.
The rear side of the car features light streaming LED tail lights that have been neatly vertically clustered on both sides, in between there is a wing shaped appliqu? featuring Mahindra’s logo. Boot lid’s shape does not look extended like other sedans but the luggage space offered beneath covers all flaws. Mahindra Verito Vibe despite being a compact sedan features an awesome boot space of 330-litres. A pair of roof rails over the top not only gives a premium look to the car but help in improving aerodynamics of the car. Added to that a ground clearance of 172mm along with a flexible suspension system ensure safe passage through rough and patchy roads. To make it better Mahindra offers this sedan with number of color option which includes some dynamic tones such as Dolphin Grey, Java Brown, Mist Silver, Fiery Black Diamond White, Toreador Red, Aqua Rush, and a few others.
Mahindra Verito Vibe Interiors
Space is one of the main issues that often co-related with compact vehicles be it a sedan or a SUV. But with Verito Vibe, space is one thing you need least to be worried about. Apart from space, Mahindra has given a premium look to the interiors and several impressive features that make this car look refreshing and spicy. The first thing that impresses is a light color dashboard with smart black colored finishing touches. The large steering wheel with a big horn pad is backs by tachometer, speedometer, and a bright orange digital gauge that aids visibility in day light too. The center console is marked with two round shaped AC vents, a CD player, and within reach controls.
The fabric inserted door trims and plush fabric upholstery give add premium flair to car’s cabin. The dual tones seats offer comfort along with sufficient elbow room and shoulder room. The rear seats are wide and can comfortably accommodate three full size adults. All seats are accompanied with head restraints ensuring utmost comfort to their accommodators.
Along with ample space, the car cabin has been blessed with numerous storage spaces that can accomplish all your big and small storage needs. A large parcel shelf, a mobile holder, a bottle holder, map pockets, and a rear parcel shelf are some of the noteworthy storage spaces offered in the top model of the car to add to passengers comfort. Apart from these major comfort features offered in the car include a powerful air conditioner, cabin heater, a 2DIN CD player, USB interface, AUX-in support, remote control for music player, head restraints over all seats, theatre dimming lights, a bright trunk room light, rear windscreen defogger, power steering and windows, central lock, day/night rear view mirror, a computerized driver information system, a handy gear shift knob with silver finish, headlight on warning buzzer, sun visors for driver and front co-passenger, and a few others.
Mahindra Verito Vibe Performance
The Vibe is powered by the same proven 1.5-litre DCi Renault diesel engine that’s been powering the Logan and later Verito since 2007. Since the Verito’s 1.4-litre petrol engine does not qualify for the excise benefits offered to small cars and there is no engine option below 1.2 litres (to get the advantage) M&M has sensibly not bothered to offer the Vibe with a petrol option. Despite the lack of outright horsepower, the Vibe’s engine is very tractable and pulls comfortably, in a linear fashion from as low as 1200rpm till about 3000rpm, which gives it excellent real-world driveability. The torquey nature of the engine encourages you to upshift early rather than pushing it near its redline where the power rapidly trails of. On Mahindra’s test track, we simulated some city traffic conditions and the Vibe did not require too many downshifts, making it effortless to drive. But on an open track, the lack of top-end grunt is evident with the car starting to run out of breath after about 120kph. What is truly impressive is the Vibe’s refinement levels. The engine is pretty quiet and road noise too is quite well contained.
Mahindra Verito Vibe Driving
French vehicles are known for their pliant ride and the Verito Vibe gets the same under-pinnings of the Logan. The ride suppleness is good as the dampers do a fine job of soaking up the bumps and road shocks. The ride gets a bit choppy at high speeds, which wasn’t the case with the Logan ever. The handling of the Verito Vibe is decent. It isn’t built to be driven around a track, neither does it have the power to set a competitive lap time about Nurburgring. It has been built to carry people in comfort from point A to point B and that’s what it does perfectly. The steering wheel is surprisingly heavy at low speeds and it lightens up as you gather momentum. Now, generally it is the other way round.
Mahindra Verito Vibe Safety
A part of the excellent driving experience offered by Mahindra Verito Vibe can be contributed to its sound braking system that does its job perfectly. While the front portion of the car is equipped with disc brakes the rear portion braking is supported by drum brakes. Apart from these, the braking system of the car gets aided by advanced systems like Anti-lock Braking System and Electronic Brakeforce Distribution (EBD) system that help maintaining control over the car during sudden braking and fast deceleration of car whenever required. These two systems play a major role in strengthening the security and safety system of car.
The safety front of the car is also strengthened with other standard measures such as a strong built, a fine tuned suspension system, driver airbag, steering wheel frame made up of magnesium which reduces impact of collision, central lock, day/night inside rear view mirror, anti-theft alarm, halogen headlights, collapsible steering, door ajar warning, electrical rear window child lock, fog lamps, a laminated windshield, adjustable front seats belts, adjustable head restraints over front and rear seats, remote door locking, and a few others. The safety as well as braking system of this car are one of its biggest USPs and make it one of the most reliable cars.
